In 2013, danah boyd founded Data & Society Research Institute to examine the social, technical, ethical, legal, and policy issues emerging from data-centric technology. The New York think tank required a visual identity that could establish credibility with researchers, journalists, and policy makers while remaining accessible beyond academic institutions.
