Volumetric video capture promised to transform VR and AR content creation, but the technology remained inaccessible to independent creators. Specialized volumetric studios required equipment costing hundreds of thousands of dollars and technical expertise beyond most artists and filmmakers.

[Depthkit](<https://depthkit.tv>) democratized this by combining commodity depth sensors (like the Microsoft Kinect) with standard cameras, enabling artists to capture 3D video without specialized studio infrastructure.

As Depthkit prepared for commercial launch in 2017, the toolkit had already powered experimental VR projects but needed a brand identity that positioned it as a professional production tool. Under After designed a visual system with a spatial-mapping-inspired symbol and vibrant color palette reflecting the technology's approach to volumetric capture.

The brand symbol uses overlapping forms and color shifts to visually represent the technology's core function: capturing depth data from multiple camera angles.

The brand identity positioned Depthkit as a professional tool for volumetric video capture across VR documentaries, AR music experiences, and interactive installations.
